Dequindre Cut
"The Dequindre Cut Greenway, a vibrant urban path, opened in 2009 as a result of a collaboration between the federal government, the City of Detroit, nonprofits, and private entities." This two-mile below-street greenway, which was formerly a Grand Trunk Railroad route, links the East Riverfront, Eastern Market, and residential areas. It features a 20-foot-wide paved road for bikers and pedestrians and is well-known for its urban artwork. A half-mile expansion completed in 2016 takes you to Eastern Market and offers a look into the history of the railway. Wilkins Street Plaza provides a calm area to take a rest, and entry ramps are positioned at important crossroads."
